Located on the banks of the River Thames, Kingston Upon Thames offers a relaxed and appealing lifestyle. For those who don’t want to live in the hustle and bustle of a big city like London, Kingston can be a great alternative, providing the peace and quiet of a small town.
Kingston is a small area located in the southwest of London; it has a small population of just over 40,000 people. It’s home to a top ranking university – Kingston University and is also home to Glyndŵr University Kingston campus, and a short train journey from Twickenham, home of St Mary’s University.
Most of Kingston University campus is located in the heart of Kingston-upon-Thames. It is a historical and vibrant town, home to museums, bars, shops, galleries and much more. Four main campuses make up the university, three of which are in and around the centre of town and the last is located further out in Roehampton. A £123 million renovation project is currently underway that will see the refurbishment and improvement of the existing campuses as well as the construction of three significant new buildings.
The peace of Kingston can provide a nice reprieve, but that doesn’t mean you have to miss out on anything that a bigger city has to offer. London’s Charing Cross is only 12 short miles away, with regular trains running into the city. This allows you to experience the excellent restaurants, nightlife, entertainment and attractions of London but gives you a peaceful home to retreat to at the end of it all.
