Plymouth is port city in the south east of England and it’s home to a The University of Plymouth, ranked 77th on the 2019 League table rankings. The University of Plymouth only became a university back in the early 90’s but since then has become one of the biggest universities in the UK with over 30,000 students enrolled.

Students at Plymouth are some of the happiest in the country, the campus boast excellent facilities and the university has a number of initiatives to encourage work based learning and employability skills. The campus is home to a cinema, performance space and a variety of cafes to socialise in. It also has state-of-the-art teaching facilities and students benefit from newly built purpose-built facilities, labs and computers suites that received million pound investments.

But Plymouth isn’t just a great place to learn at also a great place to live. It is a beautiful fishing and port city with proud military history, but there is also a vibrant, younger culture to the city, with gigs played regularly at the Plymouth Pavilion and a number of student bars.

The city centre campus is also just a few minutes from the train station and has excellent connections across the UK with regular trains to London Paddington.

The campus is near to local shops, cafés, restaurants and bars. As the largest city in the Southwest of England, there is always plenty to do. Plymouth offers something for everyone, the seafront and historic Barbican are a short stroll from the city centre so you can have the best of both worlds – the busy city and the quiet rural beach.

There is an active and vibrant students’ union at the university which hosts a number of DJ, gig and movie nights. There is also a huge selection of clubs in Plymouth city centre, with their students’ union having its own nightclub. Food lovers are also well-catered for with a number of excellent restaurants with food from all over the world and of course some of the freshest seafood in the UK.

If you enjoy the outdoors, then Plymouth is the place for you. You will be ideally located with the beaches of Cornwall, and the beautiful Dartmoor National Park are minutes away by car. There is a great social scene on the waterfront and a vast range of watersports to choose from – surfing, diving, paddleboarding to name just a few.
